Misadventures in research…

So it may happen that instead of just presenting a poster, I may actually have to give a small presentation about my research that was awarded a small grant (less than $500). Normally this is no big deal, but if I win, I will be flown out to LaCrosse, Wisconsin (in the email, they put an exclamation point after Wisconsin, seriously). I would have to present in the Theatre/Arts venue of the grant award conference.

So I picture several esteemed individuals, several students, and other bystanders who are lost and don’t know where to go, sitting in a theatre watching monologs, dances, singers, with just a few presentations thrown into the mix. I imagine this must get a bit repetitive and mundane after doing this all day, no matter how great the presentations are or the quality of work. Therefore, I will help everyone out.

I feel it is my job, nay, my duty to revive the numb butts and wandering minds of that dark theatre, and I take my duty very seriously! (A well-deserved exclamation point)

I personally dislike Power Point presentations. Most people use them incorrectly as cue cards, or the design is so bland that it is damn near impossible to maintain interest in what is being said or shown. So therefor, if I have to do one, you can bet your ass it is going to be amazing.

My first inspiration came from Barney Stinson’s CV (How I met your mother). His epic video will lead the way for my awesome Power Point. However, it needs more AWESOME. So what else could be added you ask, how about double rainbows bitchs! Yes, I said it, double rainbows! Add to that one other thing, and you have the perfect mix for the most amazing Power Point ever created, Kittens. Bam, mind blown…

· Explosions

· Double Rainbows

· Kittens

· Awe Inspiring Music

‘Don’t do it’, I hear you say. ‘Too much awesome, people will die’ the underwhelmed respond.
